Nestled on a hillside in the stunning Forest of Dean, Nuthatch Retreat’s warm, calming interiors invite you to slow down and unwind, while expansive views offer fresh perspective.

This single-storey, cedar-clad lodge, designed by Hills+Co, is perfect for solo travellers, couples, and up to two children. Your private, light-filled space features two bedrooms, a generous shower room, and an open-plan lounge, kitchen, and dining area.

A generous patio and dining area overlook terraced gardens, breathtaking views and an outdoor deep-soak bathtub for two. A sliding door dissolves the boundary between inside and out, leading to spiral steps through wildflower borders and edible plants to a private sunny lawn. Below, a wilder space awaits with a fire pit for stargazing or outdoor cooking.

The tree canopy and expansive views hold you in the landscape, until ready for your next adventure.

The decor has a homely mid-century vibe, with pieces by Heals, G-plan and Iversen set off by modernist inspired fabrics, rustic ceramics and Scandi kitchen details. The plants aren’t just outside either! Our love for all things green and leafy has meant we have indulged our passion for indoor plants so you can relax, shower and sleep amongst funky foliage.

The layout is wheelchair accessible from the ramped front door entranceway through and out to the generous patio area, with a spacious wet room and wide doors.

What you’ve created is so special and unique, we’ve not experienced anything quite like it. It really topped us up and we genuinely didn’t want to leave
— Heather, Shoreham-by-Sea
